Safely earthed automatically
TracFeed® OLSP is the tried and tested solution for emergencies in tunnels and is already in use in 50 systems with around 180 stations. TracFeed® OLSP enables fast and safe emergency earthing of overhead lines from the control centre and on site. It checks that the overhead line is disconnected from the mains and verifies successful earthing on an operating and display panel that is easily comprehensible. This gives emergency services the unmistakable green light to enter the tunnel. TracFeed® OLSP is certified by the German Federal Railway Authority (EBA) for use in the German 16.7 Hz rail network and is also used in country-specific versions by Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) and Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) in the Arlberg Tunnel, Lainzer Tunnel, Gotthard Base Tunnel and the Zurich Cross-City Link.
Your advantages at a glance
- Certified by the Federal Railway Authority (EBA)
- Can be used universally in 16.7 Hz, 50 Hz and direct current networks
- Checks that the overhead line is no longer live
- Carries out the earthing process automatically
- Verifies that the earthing at the tunnel portals was successful
- Indicates the safe condition of all tunnel access points to the emergency services
Primary equipment:
- Earthing switches
- Remote motor drives
- Voltage transformers and “Safety limit for rescue team” warning signs
Secondary equipment:
- One OLSP substation with local control unit (OLSP-USTmO) per portal
- One OLSP substation with control panel (OLSP-USToO) for each rescue access point
- One OLSP central unit for each OLSP area
All TracFeed® OLSP components communicate with each other via redundant connections. The substations at the tunnel portals monitor and control the assigned primary equipment and send process-relevant information to the TracFeed® OLSP control unit. This unit distributes the information on the overall status of the system to all substations. In an emergency, the affected overhead line section is disconnected from the operator’s central switching centre and then immediately earthed by remote command to TracFeed® OLSP.

Freely accessible TracFeed® OLSP substations are installed at all tunnel portals and rescue access routes, i.e. at the portals and at all rescue accesses and have a self-explanatory indication and control panel. Three indicator lights signal the status of the overhead line like a traffic light (red, yellow, green), and a control button enables emergency earthing on site.
All OLSP substations are equipped with an uninterruptible power supply that guarantees self-sufficient operation for at least three hours. The control panel has no function when the overhead contact line is connected to the mains, so that no misuse is possible in normal operation.

Your solution from a single source
TracFeed® OLSP can be used with minor adjustments with all known grid types. It can therefore be operated universally in 16.7 Hz, 50 Hz and direct current networks.
The twelve phases of the life cycle described in EN 50126 are decisive for TracFeed® OLSP to be ready for operation. As a competent solution provider, Rail Power Systems can carry out all the necessary process steps on your behalf – from approval-ready planning, including proof of conformity with regulations regarding electromagnetic interference, to configuration, delivery, installation, commissioning and acceptance testing of the systems, right through to system maintenance.
