October 2024 – November 2024

The U4 underground line is to be extended. In order to assess the effects of stray currents and to be able to take suitable measures during the construction of the railway system, the traction current supply, the return circuit and the earthing system are to be analysed in accordance with DIN EN 50122-2. The entire return circuit, including the contact rails, must be insulated from the ground and reinforced concrete structures in such a way that the stray current leakage from the contact rails does not exceed 2.5 mA/m on average over time. Furthermore, the longitudinal voltage drop caused by stray currents on the interconnected reinforcement of tunnels, trench structures and reinforced concrete trackbeds, such as bridges between any two locations, should not exceed &# 43; 200 mV during peak traffic periods. The corresponding calculations were carried out on the basis of measurement results.
